The Role:
Contribute to the overall success of the Loyalty & Partnerships Finance team within Canadian Banking. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Finance Loyalty Programs and partnering with the Loyalty and Partnerships business, you will focus on creating value by fully understanding the business drivers underlying financial results and maintaining robust financial and accounting controls. This includes delivering flawless execution of liability management and settlement processes.
In this role, you will be responsible for financial reporting, including accounting, expense, and liability monitoring and tracking. You will manage financial activities such as variance analysis, reconciliation, and management reporting. Additionally, you will oversee process mapping and ownership, ensuring financial processes and documentation related to rewards points issuance are aligned with audit and regulatory requirements. Effective communication and collaboration are essential, as you will convey insights, information, requests, and recommendations to internal and external partners and management.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:• Work closely with Senior Manager to support rewards points issuance accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes pertinent to the bank's loyalty program.
• Ensure all financial accounting and documentation relevant to points issuance costs adhere to Scotia's governance polices and are in accordance with SOX.
• Support the monthly and quarterly financial reporting including the attestation process.
• Support financial planning and analysis activities involving the Loyalty and Partnerships business.
• Support the Senior Manager with KPIs for the loyalty rewards program including points issuance forecasts.
• Strong ongoing collaboration and communication across several partners and stakeholders on a regular basis ensuring all teams are informed and up to date on the financials of the program.
Education / Experience / Other Information
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA/CFA certification is an asset
• +3 years of progressive experience in Finance operations or accounting roles
• Experience or knowledge of loyalty program financial structure is a plus
• Excellent analytical skills, passion for accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information clearly
• Competencies: Strategic thinking, Curiosity, Communication, Results-orientation, Leadership, Process
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint. SQL / Excel VBA is a plus
Working Conditions
• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
