The Labour and Employment Practice Group at Burchell Wickwire Bryson LLP is growing!
BWB is currently recruiting for an Associate Lawyer (Labour) to join the firm on a full-time, permanent basis, based in BWB's new office space at 1801 Hollis Street in Halifax, NS.

The Opportunity:

As an Associate Lawyer within BWB's Labour and Employment Group, the successful candidate will work on a variety of labour-related files, while supporting clients in various sectors and industries. In particular, our new Associate Lawyer will be responsible for the following:

  • Providing legal advice to clients on matters pertaining to complying with labour legislation, labour disputes, arbitrations, negotiations, workplace policies, collective agreements, and other related legal matters & proceedings;
  • Representing clients throughout the collective bargaining process, and during arbitration hearings, mediations, labour board proceedings, and court litigation;
  • Conducting legal research, and staying current on all labour legislation and any relevant changes;
  • Working with other lawyers to develop effective legal strategies to ensure clients' needs are not only met, but exceeded with every interaction; and,
  • Collaborating with other members of the firm to ensure practice management requirements, including but not limited to proper client communication, file management, and time & billing practices, are completed to the firm's standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

If you are a highly motivated and organized lawyer with three or more years of labour practice experience and a commitment to providing top-tier client service, we want to hear from you!

Although not a requirement, bilingualism and the ability to practice in both French and English would be considered an asset.

All candidates must be a member in good standing with a Canadian law society with the ability to obtain practicing status in Nova Scotia.
