Here are a few ways you will make a difference:
- Performing file reviews and provides Medical Advisory reports within the nursing level of expertise.
- Reviewing, evaluating, and explaining medical reports to provide sufficient medical information to ensure the "best" course of action is taken to return the worker to the workforce.
- Developing and presenting educational sessions to Claims Services staff, and Review Committee staff.
- Investigating whether or not an accident has occurred, the circumstances, the compatibility of the injury to the accident, to the employment duties, etc. Interviewing the worker, the employer and witnesses as required.
- Determining the appropriateness of initial medical services provided by health professionals to the injury.
- Co-ordinating and scheduling medical examination clinics and PMI clinics in house. Preparing claim files for clinics
What you bring to the role:
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with a minimum of three (3) years of recent nursing experience in a relevant clinical setting.
- Must be registered, or have the ability to be registered, with the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU).
- Knowledge of the health care system and health care service providers, including scope and access to service.
- Good working knowledge to implement components of a health and wellness plan.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations and training sessions.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation Acts, and the ability to interpret and apply acts, policies and procedures to make recommendations.
