The Opportunity

Reporting to the City Clerk, The Policy Equity Associate will work closely with the Policy Analyst and other City staff to support the development, review, and update of City policies with particular attention paid to supporting an equity lens. The Policy Equity Associate will support full cycle policy development from issue identification to evaluation, ensuring that policies are developed and updated in line with best practices, support the goals of the City's Strategic Plan, and promote equitable access to City services.

Accountabilities

• Conduct jurisdictional, academic, social and other research to support the development of clear and effective policies, and develop and maintain a repository
• Support the identification, development and implementation of effective policy lenses and practices, including but not limited to the creation of an equity lens.
• Working closely with the Policy Analyst, draft policies and procedures across multiple functional areas to mitigate risk and maximize efficiencies.
• Support policy planning, including overseeing the policy review schedule, and provide support to the Corporate Policy Committee
• Oversee the upload, revision and distribution of new/amended policies on internal and external websites.
• Develop and support the delivery of training to advance the implementation of policies and policy related initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized university with a specialization in Public Policy or Administration, Business Administration, Social Science or any other related field.
• Must have 2-3 years of research and/or policy related experience.
• Experience with equity-focused policy research, formulation or analysis is considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday
9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
The City has a flexible work protocol which may apply to this position based on operational requirements.
