The opportunity

The Learning services specialist (LSS) oversees and manages the deployment, planning, delivery and compliance of service line curriculum. They are expected to be involved with cross-service-line learning and other key learning initiatives as they arise. This role promotes overall synergies with the firm's learning strategies. The LSS also manages a range of learning operations functions, including learning administration, vendor management, budgeting, and client experience management. This role needs to effectively balance working very independently while applying a consultative approach to address business needs with the right team members on a regular basis.

This role works with and reports to the Learning Leader to create deployment plans that forecast the number and location of classes/webcasts/eLearnings, identify target learners, outline communication needs, and prepare and assign instructors. A successful candidate will have strong project management skills and learning operations oversight experience.

Your key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other team members on the logistical planning of training events and off-site accommodations and management of on-site support staff
  • Manage calendars, webcast, in person and virtual session schedules ensuring recording of live sessions as required
  • Produce course materials including translation, facilitator guides and SharePoint sites as needed
  • Collaborate with the team to establish learning requirements by level, monitor consumption and initiate follow up in the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Summarize and review consumption reports for regulatory reporting
  • Identify target audience and oversee roster management for learning programs
  • Maintain the facilitator management tool for tracking facilitator availability and scheduling, accreditation and recognition
  • Support and troubleshoot prior to, during and after session
  • Organize and participate in debriefs with facilitators (and other stakeholders) with focus on continuous improvement
  • Compile and summarize learning reports, including Continuing Education (CE) credits
  • Create and maintain annual budget, review invoices and ensure accuracy of coding before sending for approvals and payment
  • Manage communications including newsletters, updates to broader team, townhall sessions, SharePoint site, monitor shared mailbox, etc.


Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong vendor management skills, working closely with providers of technical learning
  • Proven ability to collaborate with geographically dispersed team members, indirect team members, client serving personnel at higher staff levels and support staff
  • Demonstrated ability and confidence working with technology and learning new software
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills, able to coordinate multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and meet demanding timeframes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple groups across learning and the business
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong coaching, consulting and facilitation skills
  • Ability to support and lead change
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • This position is available to candidates in various EY offices across Canada. Please note that due to the national scope of the role, proficiency in English is required.


To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in advanced capabilities in Excel and PowerPoint (use of pivot tables and v-lookup)
  • Proficient in Zoom, MS Teams, Office 360 and SharePoint
  • Experience working with a LMS is an asset


Ideally you will also have:

  • Bilingualism in English and French

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $62,800 to $94,200. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
