Job Summary
This position provides leadership and consultation in the implementation of the Compensation and Benefits Administration Programs within a Service Centre model for NL Health Services.
This position provides leadership and direction to staff and clients by troubleshooting complex issues in Compensation and Benefits particularly in three key areas
- Salary Implementation (i.e. management salary approvals, management reclassifications, redundancy, management differential, market differential, deferred salary leave, etc.).
Group Insurance Plan - Subject matter expert who provides direction to staff, managers and employees on the provincial Group Insurance Program (i.e. health, dental and LTD, etc.).
Pension Administration - Resource to management and staff on pension legislation. Provides retirement counselling for the defined benefit pension plan.
Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Business Administration
Experience
At least five (5) years Human Resources experience in salary and benefits administration
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Ability to work with considerable independence under the direction of the Provincial Manager, Compensation and Benefits and liaises with the Director, Total Rewards , on decision that have organization wide impacts or that may be precedent setting.
Awareness of privacy and confidentiality policies and guidelines as they relate to the collection, maintenance of, and handling of personal information.
Effective interpersonal and consultation and communication skills combined with proven organization, analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the team using sound judgment and effective decision making skills.
Aptitude to align structures, processes and strategies with departmental organizational goals.
Ability to monitor and adjust practices based on industry standards, relevant legislation, jurisprudence, and arbitration outcomes.
Identifies and addresses issues that impact services and use the appropriate mechanisms to raise and resolve those issues.
Exercises discretion and good judgment in the decision-making process while applying organizational policies, values and ethical standards.
Knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems to support lines of business for all levels of the organization by incorporating current and accurate data.
