The Senior Manager contributes to the management of credit risk for the Retail portfolios by overseeing the data management and reporting function efforts with a specific focus on regulatory reporting. The Senior Manager is responsible for the development, data analytics, data management, governance and execution of analytical and trend-based risk management, executive management, and external stakeholder reporting packages and analytic requirements across the retail life cycle (origination, portfolio management, and collection). The Senior Manager is responsible, but not limited to, for the timely delivery of a suite of existing regulatory reports and the development of new insightful analytics and reports as required. The Senior Manager will provide leadership and support to key projects within the Retail Credit Risk Roadmap framework which will deliver data and reporting enhancements. Furthermore, any future regulatory initiatives will be in scope of delivery.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

1) Ensure the design, development, maintenance and production of detailed reporting packages and data analytics for regulators, senior management and other external stakeholders; and, the robust data management for Retail Credit Risk reporting and analytics by:

  • Production of data/tables/charts/analysis for reporting deliverables
  • Developing new reports and on-going enhancements
  • Determining the best data compilation methods
  • Developing and establishing new data sources
  • Leading documentation and governance efforts of data, processes, reports

2)Oversee the execution of ad hoc reporting requests in an accurate and timely fashion by:

  • Responding to requests from Regulatory Bodies, Risk Management units, Global Finance and Business Lines
  • Reviewing initiative requests to determine time frame and allocation of resources; directing and coordinating key activities; and, reviewing the data / analyses and reporting and communicating with clients

3) Lead special projects from a reporting and data analytics perspective and on-going operational / data management efficiencies by:

  • Ensuring compliance with Regulatory requirements, End User Computing guidelines, RDAR principles other data-related requirements
  • Improving the reporting methodology, modifying requirements per regulator guidance, identifying streamlining opportunities and redesigning as appropriate
  • Increasing efficiency through automation of reports, involving Technology partners across GRM, IT&S as appropriate

4) Lead and support the development and implementation of data and reporting enhancements driven by the Retail Credit Risk Roadmap program that will elevate the quality and reliability of reporting and analytics delivered within a framework that is compliant with new Risk Data Aggregation & Reporting (RDARR) principles.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Advanced knowledge of data management, aggregation and analysis techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS (5+ years of programming experience). Demonstrated experience with databases, query structure, data structure and data extraction. High level SQL Server, VBA, HIVE, HUE, . Knowledge of GCP and Hadoop tool-set an asset. Robust reporting tool expertise (build, execution for data preparation / visualization); eg, Power BI, Essbase)
  • Superior PC skills with expertise in MS Access, PowerPoint and Excel, critical due to the extensive manipulation of data required for the analytics and reporting.
  • Good understanding of statistical theory and applications.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to work independently and with policy, product groups and technology partners in a professional and productive manner.
  • Effective time management skills to to efficiently deliver concurrent project deliverables with competing priorities. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership and communication (written and oral) skills required to manage, prioritize and execute diverse activities and projects concurrently. Schedules are often influenced by changing priorities.
  • Governance and documentation skills would be an asset.
  • Current awareness of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Solid understanding of personal and small business credit products and associated policies and procedures
  • High level understanding of financial measures of risk adjusted returns; advanced knowledge of risk management best practices
  • Post-Secondary degree in a quantitative /computer science field. Relevant Masters Degree is desirable
