Summer Conference Hotel Cleaning Staff

StFX University is seeking applicants for custodial work for the summer conference hotel season, within the University. Facilities Management will be looking for custodial assistance from April 21, 2025 to September 1, 2025. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the collective agreement. Variable working hours (days, evenings/nights, weekends).

Key Responsibilities

  • Summer Conference Hotel cleaning
  • Dusts horizontal and vertical surfaces
  • Sweeps/dry-mops and wet-mops floors and stairways using dust mops, tools, buckets, wringers, wet mops, and automatic floor machines, as required
  • Vacuums mats and carpeted areas
  • Cleans and disinfects surfaces and replenishes room amenities, including towels, soaps and shampoos
  • Remove all used bed linens and replace with a fresh set of linens
  • Check if room lighting and appliances are in working order
  • Removes refuse/recyclables/organic waste to designated holding sites
  • Washes walls and ceilings (using ladders), as necessary
  • Maintains a clean work environment
  • Performs other duties as required
  • This position is physically demanding. Extensive kneeling, bending, standing, and squatting required

Qualifications

  • Previous recent and related experience is required
  • Ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Good communication and organizational skills
