Job Description:

Department Overview:

The Financial Planning (FP) National Office (NO) is responsible for defining and executing against the 5-year strategy and growth aspirations of the TD Wealth Financial Planning business. The team provides central strategy & support for the Financial Planning, and the Financial Planning Direct businesses:

  • 5-year vision and leadership of key strategic initiatives for TD Wealth Financial Planning and Financial Planning Direct
  • Programs and initiatives to drive acquisition, client retention, sales effectiveness and legendary client experiences
  • Own business design of compensation, strategic initiatives and product roadmap
  • Thought leadership and continuous delivery of improved end-to-end experiences for both Financial Planners and clients
  • Enablement towards growth of TD Financial Planning's virtual offering

One of the key accountabilities of the Financial Planning National Office is to create and deliver the overall vision and implementation of Products and Services offerings for the Financial Planning business. This role owns the Performance Management mandate including the design of FP Compensation, FP and SRM/RM Scorecards, LOB R&R programs and all FP Transition/Legacy Programs, as well business review and sign-off of monthly compensation and scorecard processes executed by reporting and technology partners.

Job Description:

The Senior Manager will report directly to the VP, FP National Office, working closely with this role as a strategic delegate to oversee the design and execution across Compensation, Scorecard and Transition Programs. Primary accountabilities of this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the team with the mandate to design Planner Compensation, Planner and SRM/RM Scorecards, and internal R&R program eligibility to drive performance and reinforce key behaviors and outcomes. · Review and provide business sign-off for the monthly compensation and scorecard process, supported and executed by reporting and technology partners. ·
  • Lead the team in managing BAU field escalations, queries, and exception requests related to Compensation, Scorecards, and R&R programs.
  • Lead the review and enhancement of existing suite of Transition programs offered to Financial Planners including Retirement programs, Leave of Absence and parental leave programs, Book Optimization, and FP to PWM programs.
  • Lead the change management capability, including framework, standards and guidelines for the successful implementation of changes across Compensation, Scorecard and Transition programs. Focus includes the development of critical artifacts to support field communications, updating policies/ procedures, tools and elevating the function to respond to field queries.
  • Create/ enhance documentation for existing processes and programs, and identify risks/ gaps as well as opportunities for simplification and automation.
  • Deepen National Office relationships with partners (e.g. Finance, Compensation Advisory, Reporting and Analytics, Governance & Control, Compliance, Product, etc.). Integrate shared objectives and execute joint initiatives.
  • Support the team in BAU field escalations, queries, and exception requests related to Compensation, Scorecards, and Transition programs. Make decisive recommendations and identify next steps.
  • Provides forward-thinking, fact-based insights related to potential changes and disruption.
  • Establishes relationships and collaborates with stakeholders across Financial Planning and Wealth Advice, taking into consideration competing priorities and organizational sensitivities.
  • Represents the team both internally and across the organization.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of financial products and services, and the Financial Planning and Wealth management businesses, with relevant work experience
  • Experience in managing a Sales team with variable compensation in Financial Services industry is an asset.
  • Experience in managing, leading, and reporting on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Project and problem-solving skills with an ability to provide clear and concise direction in a positive and effective manner
  • Ability to make clear recommendations to senior leaders in response to field queries and exception requests.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to develop communications for our planners and leaders.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and develop teams, processes and governance from the ground up
  • Commercially minded with a deep understanding of how TD creates value
  • Post-secondary degree is required; MBA and other industry accreditations are considered an asset
