Our Corporate Services team is seeking a Corporate Paralegal to join our firm in a full-time permanent position. As part of the Corporate Services team, you will provide support within our corporate department. Our new team member will be preferably based in our Halifax office; however, we will consider applications for our Sydney, Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, Charlottetown and St. John's office locations.
As a Corporate Paralegal, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting corporate due diligence searches, including but not limited to Bank Act, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, Worker's Compensation Board and Labour Standards;
- Obtaining certificates of good standing and copies of corporate registry documents;
- Performing Personal Property Security Act searches and filings, including but not limited to registrations, amendments and discharges;
- Coordinating property related searches with applicable team members;
- Submitting all disbursements to the accounting team in a timely fashion;
- Daily and accurate recording and entering of time;
- Being creative, sharing ideas, learning from others and sharing your skills and knowledge; and,
- Challenging yourself and your team every day; and having fun while doing so!
The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:
- The ideal candidate will have a Paralegal or Legal Administration diploma or other related education;
- Minimum two (2) years experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal preferably within corporate services;
- Excel in a demanding, fast-paced environment, be highly detail-oriented, and be flexible to changing priorities;
- Exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and legal billing systems;
- Exceptional communication skills, a special focus on client service and the highest degree of professionalism; and,
- Experience with knowledge management software and government websites would be an asset.
