Our client, Logan Drilling Group, is a leader in their industry and have been operating in highly specialized markets for the past 60 years. Their business capabilities are multi-dimensional, providing all sizes of wireline diamond core drilling, slim hole oil and gas samples, and both surface and underground drilling operations, as well as coal and salt drilling. They are a multinational organization with a head office in Stewiacke, a branch office in Moncton, and an affiliated company in the US. We are pleased to partner with them as we look to bring a motivated accounting professional to their team in the role of Controller.
The Controller will be a valuable member of the management team and will be responsible for overseeing several functions, including payroll, payables, receivables, and general accounting functions. The position has six direct reports, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, administrative assistant and a junior accountant each in Canada and the US. They will be responsible for the financial management, and financial statement preparation for 3 operating companies and 2 holding companies. This position is the primary liaison with the bank, Canda Revenue Agency, the external auditors in Canada, and the externals accountants in the US.
Responsibilities will include:
- Monthly reporting and financial statement preparation.
- Review fuel cards, Canadian Visas, and transactions.
- Set up and reconcile GL accounts as required.
- Preparation and review of financial statements.
- Year-end review and inventory counts.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.
- Monthly bank reconciliations.
- Administer RRSP and benefits on an ongoing basis.
- Approve invoices before sending to clients.
- Oversight of accounts payable and receivable.
- Other related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with a positive and professional manner.
- Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles and software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
