What you will be doing…
- You will be accountable to support the execution of a college-wide Safety Accountability Management System in support of Senior Management, Occupational Health and Safety Committees and the Campus Management Teams.
- You will be responsible for the promotion of an effective safety culture, which supports, develops and enables our faculty and staff to excel in program delivery.
- Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Services, you will perform safety inspections and audits, accident investigations, training development and delivery, assist with the development of safety and environmental policy and procedures and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a high school diploma. Completion of relevant technical coursework in Safety, Fire Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, or Risk Management would be preferred. In addition, you possess valid CPR and First Aid certification. Advanced certification such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) would be considered an asset.
- An undergraduate degree In Occupational Health and Safety would be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience performing duties in Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Prevention Inspections, Accident investigations, or closely related activities.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
- You possess valid CPR and First Aid certification
- You possess valid NS Drivers License
