Overview

The Director of Operations reports directly to the President and is responsible for driving the company's growth and ensuring long-term sustainability. The Director will lead the strategic and business aspects of the organization, providing clear direction and crafting a vision for success. Additionally, they will oversee the elements of daily operations, initiating and implementing growth strategies and processes that ensure the company's overall profitability and success.

Key Accountabilities

· Ethical Leadership: Foster a culture of ethical decision-making by the management team, guided by a clear Code of Ethics Policy.

· Company Strategy: Play a key role in shaping and executing the company's long-term strategic objectives, ensuring they align with market demands and business goals. Develop high-quality business strategies that support both short-term and long-term objectives.

· Management Oversight: Collaborate with department heads to ensure efficient, effective, and sustainable controls and procedures across all departments. Lead cross-functional projects to completion, track progress, and ensure operational goals are met.

· Budget Management: Manage company and departmental budgets effectively, allocating resources to support sales goals and overall business objectives. Analyze financial and non-financial reports to identify improvements and solutions to ensure the company's growth and sustainability.

· Client Relationship Management: Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key clients, suppliers, distributors, partners, and vendors. Cultivate new customer relationships to drive lead generation and market share growth.

· Market Trends: Stay informed on emerging markets and trends, maintaining a deep understanding of the industry and market dynamics.

· Operational Oversight: Oversee daily operations to ensure alignment with company strategy and goals. Develop and maintain effective organizational systems, delegate responsibilities, and manage the management team to ensure smooth operations.

· Employee Development: Build trusting relationships with direct reports, fostering learning and development. Provide constructive feedback to aid in professional growth and ensure alignment with individual/team development plans.

· Production and Inventory Management: Lead the analysis of production planning and inventory levels, evaluate forecasts against business objectives, and implement corrective actions where necessary.

· Innovation and Improvement: Consult on new products, services, and systems to assist with integrating operational requirements into business initiatives.

· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company complies with the Cannabis Act and associated regulations. Maintain the Health Canada role of Responsible Person (RP) and the related Security Clearance.

· Other Responsibilities: Handle additional operational tasks as needed.

Experience and Education

Proven experience as a Director of Operations or other senior managerial roles within manufacturing

Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.

MBA, CPA, CFA, or similar qualifications are considered an asset.

Familiarity with various business functions, including Sales, Finance, and Operations.

Extensive knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.

Experience in highly regulated production environments such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food and beverage, alcohol, or cosmetics is an asset.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

Strong business acumen with exceptional organizational and leadership abilities, capable of seeing the "big picture."

Analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer systems.

Ability to coordinate people and processes and effectively communicate at all organizational levels.

Highly effective in teamwork with strong conflict resolution skills.

Outstanding organizational and time-management capabilities.

Requirements

This position requires completion of security and background checks in accordance with the Cannabis Act. The candidate must be approved by Health Canada to obtain a Health Canada Security Clearance for the role of Responsible Person (RP).
