East Cumberland Lodge - Pugwash, Nova Scotia

Salary: 23.87/hr.

East Cumberland Lodge (ECL) is a 74-bed Level 1-2 long-term care (LTC) facility located in Pugwash, NS. Our mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to our residents while fostering a supportive and engaging work environment for our staff. The Position:

The staff scheduler plays a crucial role in ensuring adequate staffing across the facility 24/7. It is primarily a day shift role with occasional evening shifts. Additional hours may be required during peak vacation periods. The successful candidates will work on a rotating schedule of three 8-hour days one week and four 8-hour days the next, ensuring seven-day-a-week coverage. This position also provides key support to HR functions, including timecard validation, attendance managing tracking, performance review preparation, and vacation scheduling, in collaboration with the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

Utilize scheduling software to ensure appropriate staffing coverage across all shifts.

Monitor and adjust schedules to address staff absences, replacements, and operational needs.

Support HR functions, including payroll timecard validation and vacation scheduling.

Collaborate with the Director of HR and area leaders to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Navigate complex staffing situations within a unionized environment.

Communicate effectively with staff to ensure clarity and transparency in scheduling.

Ensure all staffing adheres to local unionized agreements and that the principles of fairness, equity, and inclusion are incorporated into all scheduling rules.

Credentials & Qualifications:

· Diploma or certificate in business administration, human resources, or healthcare management (preferred).

· Relevant training or certification in scheduling software (e.g., StaffScheduleCare, Kronos, ADP Workforce).

· Previous experience in staff scheduling, preferably in healthcare or a unionized environment.

· Experience in scheduling software and HR systems.

· Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

· Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to handle scheduling conflicts and urgent staffing needs efficiently.
