A TYPICAL WEEK:
Working as part of a small, experienced team, the IT Support Technician is responsible for providing exceptional technical support to internal staff as well as administering, monitoring, securing and maintaining information technology systems, services and software.
·Provides technical support to internal staff for all IT service areas: client technology, account management, security, business applications, server/network, mobility, etc.
This includes handling technical support; logging, resolving and escalating tickets; performing standardized IT support tasks (e.g. user account creation, group changes, mailbox setup, VPN creation, phone configuration, etc.) and coordinating with outsourcing vendors as needed.
·Images, configures, and deploys new endpoints (laptops and mobile).
·Contributes to IT operations, security and projects in a variety of areas:
o Office365 administration and security, including SharePoint
o Administration of various IT security and management technologies including: patch management, endpoint security, software deployment, group policy, hardware/software inventory, event tracking, password management, intrusion detection, encryption, backup/recovery, etc.
· Creates and maintains customer-facing documentation, end-user instruction guides, IT procedures, and/or training material as needed.
·Identifies and proposes ideas for upgrades or improvements to IT services, technologies, or other areas of IT.
·Acts as the backup to other IT team members as required.
As the ideal candidate you will have successfully completed a post-secondary certificate or diploma program in Computer Science or Information Technology and have a minimum of 1-3 years experience administering and supporting windows-based network PCs in an enterprise environment.
You bring with you technical knowledge of Windows, Office365, MS Office, and exposure to a variety of IT security and administration technologies. Experience in any of the following technology areas would be a considerable asset: networking, virtual meeting technologies, SharePoint, MS SQL Server, website admin, and iPhone/mobility.
You thrive in fast-paced environments, are no stranger to multiple deadlines and your strong written and oral communication skills enable you to work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups and to interact with employees at all levels.
LOCATION:
This incumbent must be located in Halifax or surrounding areas, and will be based out of the Halifax office, but the position offers the ability to work from home as desired.
TRAVEL, EVENING AND WEEKEND WORK:
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.
