Reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, the Senior Accountant will be a key member of the finance team, responsible for ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the company's financial health. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and experience in the manufacturing sector. Situated in the charming town of Hantsport, NS, in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, this in-office position offers a convenient 55-minute drive from Halifax, with highway travel against the flow of traffic.

The Senior Accountant will:

  • Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes and preparation of financial statements.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure timely reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare information for internal and external audits.
  • Supervise junior accounting staff and provide mentorship and training as needed.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial processes and implement best practices.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or near completion is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience (in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset).
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle] is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power suite of products is an asset.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
