Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technology Lead to spearhead our Data Distribution Strategy. This role is pivotal in shaping the firm's future data landscape, with a focus on trading platforms and capital markets. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technologist with deep expertise in trading systems, data distribution, and capital markets, complemented by a strong understanding of modern technologies like real-time data systems, APIs and cloud computing.

We are looking to solidify our data strategy an improve our distribution capabilities from our core operational data backbone – this initiative will look to focus at both our on prem compute estate whilst establishing a go forward path that fits with our multi cloud strategy.

As a key player in our organization, you will act as both the Product Owner and Technical Lead, defining the strategic roadmap and ensuring seamless technical delivery for mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the firm's data distribution strategy to optimize real-time data flows and ensure seamless integration with trading platforms and capital market systems.

• Technical Oversight: Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable data distribution platforms that leverage cloud-native technologies, microservices architecture, and real-time data pipelines.

• Collaboration: Partner with trading desks, data teams, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technology solutions.

• Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends in capital markets, data technologies, and cloud computing, driving the adoption of best practices and cutting-edge tools.

• Governance: Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and regulatory requirements in the financial industry.

• Team Development: Mentor and lead a high-performing team of technologists, fostering a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and innovation.

Technology:

The TDS Veritas Platform is predominantly a system composed of numerous microservices built on open-source technologies. We pride ourselves on leveraging modern tools and technologies that best solve our business problems.

The technology stack that is in place today utilizes the likes of:

• Java 12 and Scala for general purpose programming
• Netty, ZeroMQ, and raw sockets for remoting
• Apache Cassandra for data storage
• Apache Kafka and Apache Beam for streaming and distribution
• C++ and JNI for quant library
• AngularJS and React for UI development
• Google Protocol Buffers for serialization
• HDFS, Apache Hive, Apache Spark for scalable analytics
• Graphite and Graphana for metrics
• Linux as the operating system (Open Suse moving to RHEL 7)

Qualifications:

• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in designing and building low latency real-time systems, trading platforms, data distribution systems, and capital market technologies.

• Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java or C++, and a solid understanding of APIs, messaging protocols, and data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Solace).

• Capital Markets Knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial instruments, market data, and trading workflows.

• Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in finance/technology are a plus.

• Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with containerization, orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and server less architectures.
