Meridia Recruitment is excited to partner with FFAW-Unifor in their search for a Negotiation and Policy Manager to join their team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled individual to take on a leadership role in organizing and conducting fish price negotiations, developing union policies, and supporting the needs of fish harvesting members. Reporting directly to the President, the Negotiation and Policy Manager will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of negotiations and policy work within the union.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong understanding of the legal and procedural components of fish price negotiations in the province.
- Identify gaps in information and investigate solutions to address these issues.
- Monitor key market and currency databases to stay informed on relevant industry trends.
- Organize and explain key negotiation documents and points to negotiation committees.
- Assist in drafting and editing arbitration submissions, ensuring accurate representation of interests.
- Prepare and support the conduct of arbitrations, providing strategic direction and guidance.
- Lead the development and coordination of union policies on various issues.
- Attend meetings with members and other stakeholders to gather insights and support union objectives.
- Develop and deliver presentations on union issues at events and meetings.
- Engage in policy research and manage coordination of policy work across the staff team.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in negotiations, dispute resolution, and policy development.
- Strong writing skills, particularly in persuasive writing for negotiations and submissions.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex issues.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience interpreting and applying legislation and policies.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work and attention to detail.
- Significant experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
