Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director, Student Recruitment and Enrolment the Recruitment and Enrolment Specialist, Campus Events will:

  • Participate in the execution of the student recruitment campaign that promotes Saint Mary's University's academic programs and services to prospective students through presentations, seminars, in-person and online visits and communications, to groups of students, counsellors, parents, partners, etc.;
  • Represent Saint Mary's in visits and career fairs to selected schools and at public functions in Canada and abroad, ensuring that prospective students, parents, teachers and counselors and others are provided with accurate, timely information about study in Canada and the features and benefits of attending Saint Mary's.
  • Responsible for coordinating the logistics and execution of campus tours and events, including scheduling, organizing materials, liaising with campus partners, and ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for attendees.
  • Respond to inquiries, corresponds with potential students, high schools, colleges, educational partners, applicants, alumni, guidance counsellors, and members of the University community in a collegial, collaborative and friendly manner;
  • Build and maintain relationships with high school guidance counsellors, teachers, education partners, agents/representatives, government officials, etc.
  • Responsible for the communications functions to prospective students with a specific emphasis on reviewing and providing feedback on websites, social media, email and other digital and non-digital communications methods;
  • Develop and execute coordination of visit planning and travel plans with allocated budget
  • Responsible for acquiring required travel documents, visas, vaccinations for recruitment outreach, completing trip reports, expense claims, and developing schedules for recruitment field work.
  • Provides support for the admissions functions including the collection of transcripts and supporting documents, incomplete file follow-up, assisting in the evaluation of documents, and entering data into the SIS and CRM systems as required

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Recruitment and Enrolment Specialist, Campus Events, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree, a degree from Saint Mary's is preferred.
  • Demonstrated professional, collegial and collaborative approach in previous employment.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of prospective students/families, institutional partners, and admissions professionals.
  • Proven excellence in event planning and coordination, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, problem solving, critical thinking and team building skills.
  • Passion for working with diverse groups in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to travel both domestically and/or internationally for extended periods of time of up to four weeks as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends and irregular hours.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, valid passport and up to date vaccination record.
  • Ability to learn and administer current university programs and policies.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Familiarity with and of current social media/communications platforms.
  • Light and medium exertion (e.g. lifting and carrying of boxes, suitcases, materials, etc.).
