Job Description:

We are looking for experienced Machine Learning Engineers who have worked under tight deadlines and on challenging tasks. The ideal candidate is a strong coder with solid machine learning engineering experience. They should also have expertise in data engineering, machine learning system design and MLOps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Traditional ML: Develop and deploy batch and real-time model inference pipelines to production, perform end-to-end integration testing.
  • Gen AI: Develop and deploy scalable production Gen AI systems for Gen AI models.
  • Mode Serving Framework: Develop in house model serving framework or integrate open-source model serving framework with enterprise data platform.
  • ML System Design: Architect scalable machine learning and Gen AI systems that integrate with existing data platform and infrastructure, focusing on automation, operation efficiency, and reliability.
  • Data Analysis & Processing: Perform data analysis, data preprocessing, and feature engineering on complex and large datasets for machine learning models.
  • Model Deployment & Monitoring: Build and deploy model inference pipeline, ground truth pipeline, model monitoring pipeline to production environment. Continuously monitor production model performance and system performance
  • Automation: Build CI/CD pipelines to automate model deployment, model deployment validation, model performance monitoring, and model retraining.
  • Research: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and apply them to improve existing ML systems or develop new systems and solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise with a focus on efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security; includes planning, evaluating, recommending, designing, operationalizing, and supporting solutions in compliance with enterprise and industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work with machine learning scientists, product owners, data platform team and business partners to gather use case requirements and implement technical solutions for production AI/ML models.

CUSTOMER

  • Leverage deep technology expertise for own area of specialization to deliver and ensure that all areas across the organization that provision, manage, and support various technologies have the necessary tools, processes and documentation required to effectively execute on their respective mandates.
  • Execute on Engineering strategy as it relates to the introduction of tools and the automation of build, test, release and configure activities across Application, Platform and Infrastructure. Partner with the Operations team to automatically integrate with appropriate tools and processes as part of automated/self-serve Application, Platform, or Infrastructure releases.
  • Work with partners across Technology and apply in-depth understanding of relevant business needs to identify and leverage synergies across the various areas.
  • Act as the expert or lead innovator and agent of change for the programs and services under management.
  • Work with other teams to implement best practices for engineering and management and serve as an ambassador for ML Engineering.
  • Work with vendor platform providers and engineering peers to keep abreast of trends, products, frameworks, and applications.
  • Identify and effectively manage stakeholder engagement and impacts across the enterprise.
  • Interpret client needs, assess engineering related requirements, and identify solutions to non-standard requests.

  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area.
  • Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities.
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g., financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
  • Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations.
  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience.
  • Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices.
  • Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exist.
  • Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance / risk /governance issues.
  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts. area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the

BREADTH & DEPTH:

  • Expert knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes, and procedures, as well as organization issues.
  • Expert knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business / organization, Bank standards, and may fulfill a governance role.
  • Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities and acts as a key contributor in a complex and critical environment.
  • Adept at technical project execution, strategic planning, and effective communication. Accountable for specialized knowledge in a field of AI/ML Engineering and may provide leadership to teams or projects, shares expertise.
  • Applies in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations.
  • Generally, reports to a Senior Manager or above role

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

Required Technical Qualifications

  • BSc+ in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or similar
  • 2+ years of extensive programming experience, 1+ year experience of building machine learning production system
  • Solid knowledge of applied Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Large Language Models
  • Experience with developing MLOps CI/CD pipelines for deploying AI/ML models
  • Solid cloud experience with Azure or AWS and cloud AI/ML services such as Databricks, Kubernetes, docker and container orchestration, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Data Factory
  • Strong experience with PySpark for big data processing and PyTorch for deep learning model serving
  • Expert coder with Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience with RAG, LLM fine tuning, LLM serving
  • Practical expertise in performance tuning, bottleneck problems analysis, and troubleshooting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud engineering
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to take independent action to delivery results.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
