What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director/ Senior Manager of Software Development, the Technical Lead – FIS Profile Banking Platform Specialist is a core banking technology specialist responsible for delivering application solution across the Tangerine enterprise Core Banking System. The Role is responsible for defining, setting direction and establishing the technical governance of all projects ensuring that they align to Core Banking Enterprise Architecture standards and tangerine policies.

The role is accountable for refining and driving architectural best practices as they relate to design, development, and operation of Tangerine's enterprise Core Banking services in alignment with overall objectives of the organization. The Technical Lead – FIS Profile Banking Platform Specialist role focuses across the entire portfolio of Core Banking Projects and guides their overall high level solutions approach while supporting other senior technical staff and developers on individual projects. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting application development, operations and testing teams as they leverage these assets and evolve them as the enterprise architecture aligns with business and technology evolution. The Technical Lead, Core banking closely collaborates with Enterprise Architecture team to influence mid-term and long-term Technology vision, strategy and roadmaps ensuring alignment with tangerine's objectives and business strategy and optimal applicability for Core Banking Solution Architecture. The Position requires comprehensive knowledge of Tangerine's Core Banking application architecture as well as understanding of related Tangerine's Products, business processes and Technology strategy.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical guidance for development teams responsible for the development and maintenance of relevant aspects of Tangerine Core Banking System.
  • Defines, sets direction and establishes technical governance of all projects on assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring that they are align to Core banking Enterprise Architecture standards and Tangerine policies
  • Responsible for development and Maintenance of all areas of Tangerine Core Banking Enterprise application.
    • Ensures the solution design is cost effective as well as aligned with business objectives and effectively meets project's requirements – simple, coherent, scalable, secure, components are re-used and development guidelines and best practices are followed.
    • Ensures that new solutions are effectively implemented and operationally ready.
  • Work with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Serve as the technology subject matter expert on assigned projects.
  • Oversee solution initiatives between in-house developers, third-party applications developers and outside consultants.
  • Review completed projects to determine variations from established processes and identify opportunities for process and architectural standards improvement.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

Education/Experience

  • University or College Degree
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in Core Banking software development with a focus on large scale enterprise Core Banking applications
  • 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on experience in various areas of Core Banking software design and architecture
  • Proven track record for working effectively with technical and business functions

Specialized Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycle and strong understanding of development techniques and methodologies
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of technological advances and trends that impact the global banking industry
  • Relationship management

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of other systems, applications and user interfaces as it relates to integration with core banking such as mobile, Call Center application, WebCSR, WebAdmin, Secure Website
  • Take a hands-on role in resolving technical issues and supporting software environments as part of maintaining the skills necessary to manage and advocate products and projects
  • Knowledge of Profile 7.x core banking system – major file definitions and data items, DB triggers, indices, journals, foreign keys, procedures, batches, routines, functions, reports, screens, system/common/user tables, product types, queries, transactions, events (day-end, month-end, yearend). Knowledge of new GTM (Greystone Technologies Mumps) database and programming language, object oriented PSL (Profile Scripting Language) programming language, Profile SQL, DQ (DATA QWIK), new Profile report writer – all new surroundings and features of Profile 7.x
  • In-depth knowledge of PSL and M Relationship, and PSL ties with ISO Standard M
  • Very strong background in core competencies of Profile 7.X core banking system including: Canadian EFT Payment processing; Day-end Queueing System and Event Processing; Interest Accrual Processing; Batch processing; Profile data structure architecture including System, Common, User and Transactional tables; Core Profile Banking System General Ledger Processing; General Ledger Configuration; Canadian mortgage servicing, example (renewals, escrow processing, interest capitalization, core amortization scheduler); Profile ABM Message processing using ISO 8583 standards
  • In-depth experience with new Profile 7.x features and frameworks: DB caching, new SQL framework, new PBS servers (including PJI), archiving, auto code regenerator, report writer, event monitor
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Highly competent in enterprise application delivery and design techniques
