Our client, Canadian Health Solutions Inc., has a strong focus on healthcare and improving the lives of the communities in which they serve. Their dynamic and growing group of companies have activities in disability management, R&D, diagnostic imaging, mental health and addiction treatment services. We are pleased to partner with them in search of an exceptional, ambitious and conscientious Controller to support the operations, and oversee the day-to-day finance function for the group of companies.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will be a key member of the finance team and will be responsible for overseeing the team of 3-4 staff members.
Responsibilities will include:
- Build and maintain positive relationships while supervising members of the finance team. Work collaboratively with all companies to promote their policies and procedures while helping to ensure best financial practices.
- Provide managers with timely financial reports and budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
- Oversee the timely, accurate and efficient completion of the accounting cycle.
- Preparation of internal management reports, key metrics, and KPI's.
- Preparation of quarterly financial statements and associated reporting for external stakeholders.
- Preparation of annual financial statements and support/liaising with external accountants.
- Preparation of annual budgets.
- Support and oversight of all tax related compliance and treasury function.
- Support of the FP&A function with forecasting for the various lines of business, variance analysis, etc.
- Involvement with M&A activity: tax structuring analysis and research, financing coordination, financial valuation & due diligence, integration of new acquisitions.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with business leads to understand operational details full range of business solutions from a strategic finance perspective.
- Support new growth initiatives and work with senior management to execute operational plans.
- Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business development.
- Monitor receivables and support managers with collections where required.
- Create, maintain and improve financial processes, internal controls and reporting systems.
- Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations, accounting standards and tax legislation.
- Protect the businesses by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
- 5+ years experience in progressive accounting roles.
- Experience in healthcare or research development would be considered an asset but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, directors, vendors, staff, external partners, consultants, and clients.
- Experience with streamlining business processes and systems automation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong skills with accounting software.
