Clearwater Seafoods' Corporate Accounting department requires a Senior Financial Analyst, Corporate Accounting role based at their Bedford, Nova Scotia Corporate Office. The position is a permanent full-time position and reports to the Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting.

Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting, this position is responsible for providing important business insights to management and cross functional business partners derived from standard costing analysis. This role will partner with operations, finance managers and business leads to improve cost visibility and reporting.

Reporting Structure

  • This position reports to the Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting.

Job Duties:

  • Analyze routine information for accuracy.
  • Prepare accounting entries and perform analysis that requires data interpretation, professional judgement, and business insight.
  • Analyze costs across global supply chain, relating to fleet, plants, and overhead standard cost variances, ensuring accurate classification and accounting treatment.
  • Determine allocation methodology to distribute costs equitably to business units using professional judgment and business insight.
  • Allocate costs using Clearwater's ERP system and excel models, making recommendations for P&L vs BS treatment.
  • Assist business leaders to interpret and understand their costs and margin through preparation of variance analysis and the review of profitability results.
  • Regular review and maintenance of system automated cost allocations.
  • Ad-hoc support for business development and process improvement projects through detailed cost analysis.
  • Complete general ledger journal entries for month end costing allocations and inventory variances.
  • Prepare working papers and reconciliations supporting the month-end closing process.
  • Monitor and communicate key month-end timelines, collaborating with teams to achieve deadlines.
  • Support the broader Corporate Accounting team through cross-training in various month-end support functions.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • University business degree with Accounting or Finance major.
  • CPA designation or equivalent experience
  • 1-3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Standard costing experience is an asset.
  • SAP user knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong technical ability in Microsoft Excel.

Working Conditions:

  • Location - Bedford, Nova Scotia with hybrid remote work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
