POSITION: Occupational Therapy at Villa d'la Baie (1 Positions)
TYPE: Permanent part-time 15%
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters or Bachelor degree, in Occupational Therapy, from a recognized school of Occupational Therapy.
- Licensed and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapy of Nova Scotia (COTNS).
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to make timely, effective decisions in a fast paced and continuously changing environment.
- Willingness to learn and provide in-service education to staff related to transfers, safe resident handling, equipment use etc.
- Previous experience or knowledge of seating assessments and interventions.
- Previous experience in working with the elderly or LTC setting.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (French language an asset).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide clinical OT services based on resident care needs and goals related to ADL's, seating, mobility, fall prevention, pressure and wound prevention or any other needs identified.
- Provide assessments, care planning, intervention, follow-up and evaluation plans.
- Promote functional abilities of residents.
- Participate in care conferences and care planning meetings.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the rehabilitation team and multidisciplinary team.
- Provide guidance and assistance on safe practices and usage of all rehabilitative equipment with staff, residents and families.
- Maintain professional competencies through continuing education.
