The Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC) is a Crown Corporation of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador with responsibility through the Liquor Corporation Act, the Liquor Control Act, and the Cannabis Control Act for the importation, sale, distribution and management of beverage alcohol and cannabis. NLC also ensures the delivery of programs that promote safe, responsible consumption.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Supply Chain is responsible for the strategic execution, leadership, financial measures and support of all activities related to the procurement, logistics and warehousing (including inventory management) activities of NLC. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leads strategic planning and development of initiatives to ensure execution of this strategic plan
  • Manages and optimizes the procurement, logistics and warehousing processes to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Oversees inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels and fill rates, while minimizing stockouts.
  • Identifies and mitigates supply chain risks, ensuring business continuity.
  • Defines, measures and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of supply chain operations.
  • Leads and mentors a high-performing supply chain team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with internal teams (category management, store operations, etc.) to ensure seamless coordination and support of business objectives.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics partners.
  • Stays up to date on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation in supply chain operations.
  • Develops, reviews and implements operational and administrative policies, processes and procedures that support key initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Human Resources Department to promote harmonious employee relations.
  • Promotes a healthy, safe and respectful workplace culture.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • A degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, including procurement, logistics, warehousing and inventory management.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in supply chain management leadership positions.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work with computer software applications, with emphasis on the following programs, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset, but is not required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
