Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The role of Senior Manager, AML/ATF Models and Analytics contributes to the overall success of the AML/ATF team by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. It ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

This role is responsible for developing cutting-edge AML models for transaction monitoring, name screening, and client risk rating, and providing input to the framework for model development. This position carries responsibility for the timely and accurate development of AML models. The testing, reviewing, and validation activities include, but are not limited to, assisting the technical writers with model documentation, following the AML and Enterprise Modeling Governance standards, stating key assumptions (including qualitative and expert judgment, logic, and conceptual soundness), and conducting various tests.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Develop and enhance statistical models in support of Scotiabank's AML/ATF activity. This includes working on data acquisition, modeling, implementation, and tuning strategies. Anticipated deliverables include models for transaction monitoring, transaction alert generation, and alert prioritization. This will involve analyzing various alert metrics (e.g., productive vs. non-productive alerts, alerts per transaction) and optimizing solution configurations and parameters.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate statistical models in cases where models cannot be developed from existing data. Test and analyze thresholds, ranges, and solution configurations to improve the effectiveness of monitoring and screening solutions.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Accomplish AML Program objectives through the effective oversight and support of critical AML applications.
  • Provide recommendations to improve monitoring systems and capabilities based on identified risk and control gaps.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk. This includes, but is not limited to, responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates your team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • Experience with statistical modeling and data science methods.
  • Experience programming in statistical languages such as R or SAS, and experience with databases such as Oracle or SQL Server.
  • AML/ATF experience or analytic knowledge.

What's in it for you?

  • In-depth training to prepare you for the role, as well as ongoing coaching and feedback to help you succeed!
  • You'll be part of a diverse, collaborative, innovative, and high-performing team
  • We offer a competitive rewards package:
