Demands, duties, qualifications
The Cancer Care Program of NL Health Services (Urban Zone) invites expressions of interest for a short-term locum position as a General Practitioner - Medical Oncology at the Health Science Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. All interested applicants are encouraged to apply.

The Physician will work in the outpatient cancer clinics, covering medical issues in the chemotherapy suite and management of patients on the Medical Oncology inpatient service. Hours of work are normally 0800-1700 but may vary according to patient care needs.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Effective management of inpatients on the Medical Oncology Service
  • Attending Medical Oncology clinics, GPO clinics and smoking cessation clinic for assessment and management of patients receiving systemic therapy and follow up.
  • Participate in the chemotherapy suite GPO coverage schedule.
  • Participate in the Cancer Care Program committees and quality improvement initiatives and well as attending Department, Divisional and Medical Staff Meetings.

The effective dates are January 27, 2025 until Ocotber 04, 2025.

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree.
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (or equivalent) in Internal Medicine.
  • Deemed eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador. For more information visit: [email protected] .
