Print/Digital Reporter

Navigator Publishing Inc., publishers of The Navigator, Atlantic Fisherman and Atlantic Boating, is seeking a print/digital reporter to join its editorial team. The reporter will be responsible for writing stories and generating content for Navigator Publishing's various print and digital offerings. The successful candidate for this full-time position will be located at a TriNav Group/Navigator Publishing office in Atlantic Canada.

Primary Job Duties:

Research and write news stories and features as assigned by the Managing Editor

Generate relevant story ideas

Take photographs and video for both print and digital platforms

Promote stories and content through social media channels

Skills and Experience:

Graduate of a recognized post-secondary Journalism/Communication program or equivalent

Excellent, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills

Ability to report and write news stories and features under deadline

Basic knowledge of journalism principles, techniques and related laws

Ability to attend outside meetings, hearings, news events, etc., and report on them clearly and accurately

Proficient in MS Office

Excellent proofreading skills

Knowledge of the commercial fishing and marine industries would be an asset

Knowledge of CP style

A valid driver's licence

Demonstrated proficiency with social media tools

Compensation for this full-time position will be dependent on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
