The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Technology Co-op Student to join our North Atlantic Technology Business partner and End-User Computing (EUC) Services Department team in St. John's.
This is a fixed term position, working a Monday to Friday schedule. This is a 12-18 month-fixed term co-op position starting in May 2025.
As a Technology Co-op Student you will undertake the duties required to assist the overall Business Partner/EUC team in business process optimization, change management, business analysis and varied technology project delivery. Although previous experience in mining, technology or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that's what makes us great!
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Have the opportunity to build connections with customers and stakeholders and support requests for technology that come from internal customers
- create and maintain O365 sharepoint pages and its content
- create and maintain VES training content
- create and maintain electronic forms
- support the fulfillment of requests for Technology
About You
Education:
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in a Technology, Engineering. Mining or Business Analysis program
Experience:
- Experience in an industrial/technology/mining environment would be considered an asset
- Experience in project management and execution would be an additional asset
- Knowledge and experience in Windows based applications and Microsoft Excel is essential
- Organizational, interpersonal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven safety record are essential
- Utilize good business optimization practices while minimizing costs
- Develop skills and abilities related to the provision of technology services and solutions; business problem definition and technology project management and delivery to the relevant Operations
- Follow Vale's Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment
- Ensure compliance to the applicable regulations, standards and guidelines
- Provide technical support to enable safe and cost-effective operations
- Monitor process parameters and communicate changes outside normal operational conditions to supervisor
- Maintain a high level of professional conduct
- Complete assigned projects safely and on time
- Written and oral communication skills
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk
- Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work
