Job Description:

Department Overview:

TD Securities (TDS) Finance supports the development and achievement of TD Securities financial objectives through providing value-added expertise and guidance, in-depth performance analysis and metrics on business profitability, expense decision support, and strategic advice on business decisions to optimize return on equity (ROE) and return on assets (ROA).

The Innovation and Data Insights team is the innovation hub in relation to data analytics, governance, and management for TDS Finance. The team plays an important strategic role, innovating by bringing in tools, technology, and methodologies to automate processes, drive efficiency, and add value by providing data insights to finance and front office partners. This may involve using large data analysis to deliver lasting measurable improvements. This position will require experience using industry leading BI platforms (Alteryx, Tableau, UiPath, etc) to build and support the need for ongoing data-driven work to enhance systems and processes across common teams as well as an ability to train non-technical teammates in tool adoption (Alteryx, Tableau, UiPath, etc).

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Timely completion of data mining, cleansing, and modeling of transactional and financial data from various data sources (i.e., Hyperion, Excel) that ties to/matches GL account/financial Statements.
  • Create best-in-class/compelling visualization of data, dashboards, tools and reports that supports the interpretation that drives key decisions for stakeholders.
  • Evaluate existing templates and tools and participate in design, development and testing to enhance functionality and capabilities.
  • Ensure and promote various forms of documentation for the purpose of project documentation, training and change management.
  • Partner with technology and architecture colleagues and contacts to drive effective data related activities for LOB.

Job Requirements:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or computer science.
  • Experience working within management consulting or banking industry experience with wholesale banking or finance with emphasis in business intelligence.
  • Experience with diagnosing, prescribing, planning, executing, and presenting small to medium analytics and BI projects.
  • MUST have experience in Alteryx Software and workflow design and Tableau Software and interactive dashboard design.
  • Proficiency or ability to understand macros developed with Microsoft Excel, Access, and VBA.
  • Ability to perform/develop data mapping (data definitions and business rules, mapping requirements to source data, etc.), data profiling, and business process maps.
  • Programming languages such as Python, Java would be an asset (but not required)
  • Web scraping/data extraction, database management, data mining and market research, data blending and wrangling and econometric modeling is also an asset.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and applications (SAS, R) would be an asset.

  • Able to speak proficiently with technical and business audiences as it relates to project deliverables.

  • Proven initiative, drive and focus on detail.
  • General knowledge of financial systems.

  • At least 2 to 4 years of work experience.
