Job Description:

TD Private Wealth Management takes a sophisticated and holistic goals discovery approach to wealth planning and protection to provide highly personalized advice, solutions and service to clients.

Wealth Advisory Services delivers strategies for high-net-worth clients in the areas of tax, philanthropic, not-for-profit, business succession and estate planning. Our team of specialists works with other TD advisors and partners to integrate these strategies into overarching wealth management plans that make valuable contributions and help clients achieve their goals. The Tax and Estate Planner is responsible for financial planning within an assigned Private Wealth Management (PWM) territory.

Accountabilities for the position include providing high net worth planning solutions to qualifying clients of PWM, assisting with the growth of the PWM business through actionable planning outcomes, and positively affecting the client experience through impact and influence, as well as being a steward of our Private Wealth Management value proposition.

The Tax and Estate Planner is a technical specialist, with expertise focused on tax and estate planning. He/she should be able to cover all aspects of estate planning and utilize Wealth Advisory Services partners (Accountants, Lawyers, Business Succession Planners) when required as subject matter experts.

Tax and estate planning for high net worth clients that focuses on:

  • Creating a tax-efficient estate plan;

  • Protecting and increasing wealth;

  • Philanthropic planning; and US cross border issues.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivering a legendary Wealth Client Experience to High Net Worth clients, including:
  • Helping clients achieve their financial objectives and peace of mind through advanced wealth planning focused on providing tax and estate guidance and support.
  • Conducting an in-depth discovery of client's needs and addressing through a holistic Wealth Plan.
  • Identifying referral opportunities and coordinating the team of Partners/Advisors to work collaboratively together in order to execute an integrated Plan.
  • Working proactively with direct manager to develop improved client experience, operational and Practice Management practices, and overall personal development.
  • Participating in the local community and supporting TDBG charity and community initiatives.
  • Fostering and contributing to a positive and constructive work environment.
  • Helping to increase the overall planning knowledge of the team through informal learning, lunch & learns and other learning activities.
  • Demonstrating leadership and supporting the employee experience.

Experience and education:

  • Professional legal designation required (LLB, LLM, JD)
  • Willing to complete CICA In Depth Tax course, levels 1 & 2 or Masters of Tax is required
  • Certified financial planning designation is an asset (CFP, F. Pl.)
  • Strong passion and focus on delivery of a first-class wealth planning experience
  • A minimum 10+ years of wealth planning experience gained through client contact or in a technical advisory role to advisors, coupled with investment industry knowledge
  • Estate and tax planning expertise
  • Knowledge and experience working on advanced financial planning issues
  • Client service focused and oriented
  • A self-starter who is results oriented and gets things done on time and who works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong communication, presentation, time management, organizational skills, and work ethic
