The Bertossi Restaurant Group is seeking an Experienced Senior Accountant to help us carry on our tradition of creating award-winning hospitality! If you enjoy analyzing the details and ensuring the financial operations run efficiently and strategically, then you'll be the perfect fit.

Reporting to the Owner & the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for assisting with the full financial accounting cycle and will help oversee a small team. We are looking for someone who can add value to an organization with their exceptional financial and accounting capabilities.

The Bertossi Group has set the standard for Hospitality in Halifax, with beloved restaurants; The Bicycle Thief, Ristorante a Mano, La Frasca Cibi & Vini, il Mercato Trattoria, Water Polo & Matadora Restaurants, as well as two luxury Cafe locations of Pane e Circo.

Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will have oversight and responsibility for:

Assist in the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule including month-end closing processes, accruals, and adjusting journal entries.

Assist in Year-end preparation of Financial Statements for external auditors.

Assist in the preparation of daily labour reports including follow-up of time clock discrepancies.

Act as a back up and/or assist the Payroll Coordinator with the preparation of weekly payroll when required

Support staff accountants in organizing daily work flow and assist in server cash balancing

Monthly Intercompany, Gift Card and General ledger reconciliations

Assist in cash flow reporting

Responsible for Inventory review and investigating variances arising from counts.

Build relationships with restaurant managers to promote professional communications

Qualifications

The successful candidate in this role will have:

Post Secondary Degree in Accounting is required

Experience in Hospitality considered an asset

Strong systems skills, specifically MS Excel for accounting

Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a small busy team

Experience with Sage would be an asset
