The opportunity


The Supervising Associate, reporting to the Assistant Director, plays a crucial role in the day-to-day functions of the Group. This hands-on position involves supervising a team of three, ensuring reporting accuracy and ad-hoc project completion, and leading process improvement initiatives. This position is fully on-site at the Toronto office, facilitating close collaboration, effective communication, and secure handling of confidential information.

The Partnership Operations Group is dedicated to supporting EY Canada leaders across both the partner talent and financial life cycles. As a team of problem solvers, we are committed to resolving complex business issues and providing comprehensive support from strategy through to implementation.

Your key responsibilities

  • Assisting in management of the Group, providing excellent leadership to direct reports, fostering teamwork, and recognizing top performers
  • Oversee full cycle mid-month and review all aspects of all monthly and year-end processes, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations, ensuring high levels of accuracy and compliance
  • Review, recommend and implement internal controls for improvements and efficiencies, taking initiative and driving innovative process improvements
  • Respond to accounting requests and inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships
  • Produce accurate and timely reports and presentations that effectively communicate key insights and support data-driven decision-making
  • Manage and ensure compliance with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and related tax filings, in adherence to laws, regulations, and standards
  • Support Leadership in special projects for both internal and external stakeholders, including forecasting, reporting and modeling data, demonstrating critical thinking and innovative problem-solving
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required

  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards using relevant information and judgment, while driving process improvements and innovation within organizational policies
  • Leverages technology and effectively uses systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide stakeholders with data and analytical support to drive decision-making
  • Exceptional analytical skills to assess information and identify optimal solutions to complex problems
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with Director, colleagues and direct reports
  • Effective time management skills and flexibility to work with changing priorities, ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment


To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is required
  • Possess a minimum of five years of progressive and relevant financial experience in similar roles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills, proficient at building relationships with multiple levels of stakeholders, both external and internal
  • Strong computer literacy with advanced skills in MS Office products, including Word and Excel; including but not limited to LOOKUPs, pivot tables, pivot charts, and building complex models
  • Effective time management skills; exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and competing deadlines; ability to work and analyze at a high level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change
  • Comprehensive knowledge of partnership, personal and corporate Canadian tax knowledge and experience with Canadian tax preparation would be considered a strong asset
  • Comply with all confidentiality policies of the Firm and applicable regulatory authorities


This position is fully on-site and requires the individual to work from the Toronto office
