Summer Student Property Attendants are the face of Build Nova Scotia on the ground, working to enhance our property and, at times, marina presentation and cleanliness, assisting with special events, providing information to visitors, and other duties as may be required. Ultimately, Property Attendants work to ensure all visitors enjoy a world-class experience each time they visit. No doubt it's hard work, but who doesn't love working next to the water's edge?

This position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and presentation of the Halifax waterfront, and other properties as may be necessary, and to ensure key infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards. As front-line staff representing Build Nova Scotia, this position requires individuals with excellent customer service skills and an engaging personality. While this position is part of a small team that requires a high degree of cooperation with other staff members, once trained, they are often working independently. It also entails various tasks supporting marina operations, events and other functions of the waterfront. This position will report to Build Nova Scotia's Maintenance and Property Management teams.

Responsabilités

· Property Attendants will support events on the waterfront by assisting with setup, maintenance and teardown as required.

· This position can often be the first point of contact for visitors to the waterfront by land and sea. As such, the position is responsible for:

· Communicating effectively with visitors, responding to questions, proactively promoting events, attractions, and activities (Buskers, Jazz Fest, etc.).

Providing an enthusiastic, friendly information resource on the waterfront.

Capture photography and video content of waterfront for use on social media (basic cellular device camera) as directed by the Marketing & Communications team.

Working Conditions:

Day, evening and weekend shift work required.

Work is conducted in all different weather conditions.

Additional Information:

This opportunity will start approximately May 1, 2025 with an end date of August 29, 2025. Casual work shifts may continue into the fall depending on seasonal/operational needs.

The hourly rate of pay varies depending on educational level, i.e., high school to masters.

Qualifications

Completion of High School or equivalent and returning to studies in fall 2025.

Great interpersonal skills.

Scheduling flexibility is required, including availability for weekend and evening work.

Extensive walking and physical labour are parts of this job, both indoors and outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.

Must be able to lift 22kg.

Valid Driver's License (Class 5) is an asset.

Experience driving a full-sized pickup truck and utility vehicle an asset.

Valid Standard First Aid and WHMIS Certificates are an asset.

Experience in landscaping, light carpentry, painting and general maintenance are an asset.

A passion for the waterfront and working hard, rain or shine, is essential.
