The Environmental/Engineering Student is accountable for monitoring and supporting assigned projects related to policy objectives including the availability of remediated land for safe and sustainable community and economic development. This position is located in Sydney, NS.
· Reviews, monitors and oversees project works ensuring scope, budget, and schedule are maintained to ensure project related policy objectives (e.g. land remediation and community economic development) are realized as efficiently as possible.
· Monitors and assists assigned program and project staff pursuant to our practices and oversees the works of contracted external resources to ensure the cost-effective delivery of work in accordance with the scope of negotiated contracts in a safe and effective manner.
· Monitors project deliverables and provides reports and inputs to leaders.
· Performs sampling, testing, data analysis and inspections with approved equipment in various mediums and situations.
· Communicates regularly with project managers and senior management to maintain positive working relationships.
· Participates in the development of program status reports consistent with organizational reporting processes and standards.
· Supports in achieving the goals of the department.
Working Conditions:
Normal work week hours are 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.
Normal work is generally carried out in an office work setting.
Additional Information:
This opportunity will start approximately May 1, 2025 with an end date of August 29, 2025.
The hourly rate of pay varies depending on educational level.

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a full-time environmental and/or engineering program at an accredited post-secondary institution in the fall 2025. Other related programs will be considered.
Candidates should possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, display strong organizational and analytical skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is a significant asset.
