Rehabilitation Assistant (Part-Time, Temp. Approx. 18 months)

Nakile Home for Special Care has taken pride in offering a friendly, bright, home-like atmosphere to seniors in Argyle and the surrounding areas since 1989. We are a 48-bed facility, and we are fully licensed by the province of Nova Scotia. Nakile maintains a reputation as one of the finest long-term care facilities in Western Nova Scotia. At Nakile we promote a home-like atmosphere, and we strive to meet the individual needs of the people who live here. We are currently seeking one Temporary Part-Time Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Nakile family.

Hours of Work

Part-Time, 40 hours/bi-weekly (may include weekends and/or occasional evening shifts)

Term

Approximately 18 months

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist the Rehabilitation Assistant supports the OT and PT services offered at Nakile. The Rehabilitation Assistant reports directly to the Director of Care. They are responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of programs designed to increase resident mobility and will provide training and support in proper body mechanics and the safe use of equipment.

Duties will be performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies and Procedures of Nakile Home for Special Care. NHSC is committed to person centered care, resident safety, continued quality improvement, and advancing the delivery of safe and trusted health services.

Qualifications

· Rehabilitation Assistant Certificate or acceptable equivalent.

· Current Certification in CPR.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team.

· Excellent interpersonal skills.

· Excellent time management and multitasking skills and must possess ability to prioritize work.

· Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to resident privacy.

The following will be considered assets:

· Previous experience working in Long Term Care.

· High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
