Role Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Quality Supervisor will play an important role in championing excellence by implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all products and processes meet the highest standards. As a passionate advocate for quality, you will lead initiatives that inspire teamwork, drive positive change, and promote a culture of safety and efficiency across production and operations. This is your opportunity to take ownership of a well-established quality system, make a tangible impact, and advance your career within an organization with deep roots in the community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct daily inspections of incoming goods, finished products, the production facility (including pre-operation checks), traceability controls, packaging and label compliance, and allergen management.
  • Lead the documentation, implementation, and maintenance of the HACCP Plan and other food safety programs.
  • Develop and deliver orientation and training sessions on food safety, HACCP, and BRC-GS standards in collaboration with consultants.
  • Ensure all food safety procedures and processing controls are in place, effectively communicated, and consistently followed by employees.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for shipping, receiving, production, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
  • Act as the primary lead for third-party audits related to Food Safety, Quality, Regulatory, and Sustainability, including CFIA, BRCGS, and MSC certifications.
  • Supervise site employees on Quality, Food Safety, and Regulatory compliance matters.
  • Address Quality and Food Safety non-conformances, administer Corrective Action Reports (CARs), conduct Root Cause Analysis, and issue Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) reports.
  • Manage and maintain the site's Quality Management System (QMS), including all Pre-Requisite Programs (PRPs).

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a proven ability to build strong relationships and foster collaboration across all levels of an organization. Your natural talent for gaining buy-in and influencing others is matched by your analytical mindset and ability to translate data into actionable insights, helping teams identify opportunities for improvement. With extensive experience managing quality systems in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the food industry, you bring a hands-on understanding of production processes, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a dedication to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Your qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science (Microbiology, Pharmacy, Chemistry), or completion of an Engineering Technology program with a focus on quality management/food safety systems, or strong quality assurance experience in a manufacturing setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Prior experience in food/fish processing is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with the BRC-GS Quality Management System (or another GFSI-benchmarked scheme) is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to and understanding of CFIA, BRCGS, and MSC certifications is an asset.
  • Up-to-date or willingness to complete First Aid/CPR and WHMIS Training.
  • Ability to work in cold and wet environments.

Cedar Bay Grilling Co. offers a supportive workplace that values growth, fosters collaboration, and empowers you to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.
