JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are hiring an experienced communications professional to work closely with Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) colleagues supporting external and internal communications programs for TD Insurance.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who has superior stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, proven experience in navigating issues as well as in media relations, storytelling and executing events.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Play a lead role in driving strategy and delivering external communications for TD Insurance which includes overseeing and prioritizing incoming media requests; planning and executing media/stakeholder events; and researching and writing flawless communication materials, including press releases, articles, media pitches and announcements.

  • Work closely with senior leaders and key business partners to develop and execute on comprehensive media relations strategies and plans.

  • Work closely with Senior Manager to build communications and thought leadership opportunities for the CEO and President of TD Insurance.

  • Manage media and reputation issues by being an advocate for clear, credible and transparent messages and supporting TD spokespeople to deliver.

  • Identify and use the most appropriate storytelling tools to produce and deliver compelling content to employee and external audiences, leveraging traditional, online and social that will help influence stakeholders and drive engagement across a number of channels, audiences and geographies.

  • Foster meaningful and lasting relationships with key journalists who cover the Insurance industry.

  • Manage relationship with PR agency to help deliver end-to-end earned, owned and paid results.

  • Develop and execute internal communications tactics that celebrate our colleagues and their achievements, and support TD Insurance priorities.

  • Collaborate with teams across TD Insurance, as well as key stakeholders and control partners including Product teams, Marketing, HR, Publishing, Legal, Risk, Privacy and Compliance.

  • Demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to partner effectively across the organization and with colleagues within CAPA.

Required skills and experience for the job:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 7-12 years of experience in corporate or agency communications environment.

  • Proven track record in both proactive and reactive media relations, with strong issues management skills.

  • Proven experience providing communications counsel to business partners and senior executives.

  • You are known for your critical thinking, common sense and good judgement when dealing with sensitive matters.

  • You have exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to reach the hearts and minds of your audience through compelling storytelling.

  • An entrepreneurial and adaptable mindset.

  • Ability to understand complex subject matter and distill it into communications that are simple and easy to understand.

  • Digital fluency and demonstrated experience using social media for corporate clients.

  • You can deliver success independently on deadline but as a team leader, you help colleagues and others across the bank achieve success collaboratively.

  • Ability to prepare and manage communication budgets for large projects.

  • Experience working in the Insurance industry.
