Position Summary:
EverWind Fuels is embarking on a Clean Energy Project that will create Nova Scotia's first green hydrogen production facility and unlock the potential of Nova Scotia's green economy. In addition to the Point Tupper Clean Energy Project, EverWind operates the Point Tupper Terminal which has 7.5 million barrels of storage capacity and specializes in storage, blending and transshipping of petroleum and petrochemical products.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager of the Point Tupper Terminal the Millwright assembles, installs, aligns, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, inspects, dismantles and moves a variety of machinery and equipment. Reads blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Other tasks may include welding, cutting, machining and preparing bases for equipment. Assists in terminal maintenance and operational support. All types of preventive and reactive maintenance activities may be involved.
Education Requirement:
- High school diploma or approved equivalent
- Millwright Trade Certification - Journeyperson Red Seal Certification or Apprentice
- Additional Trades an asset
- Strong reading, writing, communication and math skills including the ability to read procedures, and perform arithmetic functions
- Knowledge of Isometrics, P&ID's, blueprints, diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals to assist in determining work procedures for completing tasks and projects
- Must have valid driver's license
Experience Requirement:
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment and tools
- Knowledge of petroleum products and industry terminology
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Major Accountabilities:
- Perform all functions safely when complying with Terminal and Provincial rules, procedures and policies
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment common to the Millwright trade
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
- Maintain and complete accurate filing and updating of all maintenance records including, but not limited to: work orders, equipment preventive maintenance sheets, operations manuals, safety manuals, emergency response manuals, policies and procedures
- Create materials sheets, schedules and plans for upcoming projects
- Take a lead role on work assignments
- Successful completion of all required personnel training including written and computer based testing
- Attend weekly safety meetings
- Participate in ERT including Oil Spill Response
- Must maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Ensure reporting of all incidents and accidents immediately to Supervisor
- Drive company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner to transport tools, equipment and materials to and from different work areas on site
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Perform other duties as required
Physical Demands:
The employee must be physically prepared to work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions. Must be able to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, head protection, steel-toed shoes.
The employee may be required to:
- Stand; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift up to 50 lbs or drag and/or move up to 100 lbs.
- May climb tanks up to 100 ft or work on jetty above water (approx. 40 ft over water).
- Walk up to 2 miles at a time and be able to enter above ground storage tanks through man ways that are 24 inches or larger.
