About Our Opportunity

Under the direction of the Client Service Manager the Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for providing social work services that involve a variety of complex social issues and personal situations. The incumbent works in collaboration with residents to identify their needs, attain services (where available), and promote health and safety to maintain the highest possible quality of life for all residents living in public housing.

Responsabilités
  • Provide social work services to tenants of public housing to ensure their safety, independence, and ability to remain in their homes for as long as possible.
  • Intervene and assist tenants by identifying their needs, sharing information about community resources, and making appropriate referrals to the most suitable services.
  • Provide ongoing follow-up and reassessment to ensure services are adequate, effective, and aligned with client goals.
  • Collaborate with community agencies, government programs, and advocate groups, including Continuing Care Nova Scotia, Adult Protection, Child Protection, Senior Safety Coordinator Programs, and others.
  • Engage with family members, advocates, and other stakeholders when necessary to support tenant well-being.
  • Participate in case conferences, committee meetings, and other liaison activities to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to client care.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate client records, including memos, file recordings, and communication logs, ensuring seamless collaboration between the Community Relations Coordinator and Client Service Coordinators.
  • Prepare reports and attend Standing Committee meetings for specific cases as required.
  • Act as a resource and representative in ongoing committees addressing community needs related to seniors and families.
  • Participate in community development initiatives focused on addressing the needs of seniors, families, and other vulnerable groups.
  • Advocate for tenant needs through proactive engagement with stakeholders and community partners.
  • Contribute to program improvement by providing feedback and insights based on tenant interactions and needs assessments.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and development seminars, such as Diversity Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and other relevant programs.
  • Serve as a resource and contributor in community and organizational initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and client outcomes
Qualifications
  • Post Secondary degree/diploma in social work, Human Services, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in community relations, social work, or public service roles, preferably in public housing or similar settings.
  • Possess current Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and social service systems, including long-term care, procedures for placement in residential care, risk assessment, community development approaches, knowledge of disadvantaged populations, etc.
  • Possess current Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.
  • Possess a high degree of judgment, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand the relationships of the organization (climate, culture, politics, issues, long-term issues, and the position of the organization in the larger world).

Assets

  • Knowledge of computer systems.
  • Knowledge of Yardi.

Salary Range: $54,804.67 - $67,187.91 Annually
Work Week: 35 hours
