STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
The Strategic Communications & Marketing (SCM) Office is responsible for directing all corporate communications through storytelling, media relations, marketing, branding, creative and digital media strategies across the university. The Strategic Communications & Marketing Office fits within the President's Office and reports to the President. The office oversees strategic communications and marketing policies, procedures, strategies and plans that advance the university's vision, mission and reputation. Members of the office work in close collaboration with other university units across both campuses to implement strategies, develop performance standards and monitor effectiveness of the strategies.

Salary Range: $69,660 - $94,939 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director of Brand & Marketing, the Web Manager is responsible for developing and executing the strategy and operations of UNB's web with a focus on user experience, content strategy, digital design and front-end development.

  • Work with the Director of Brand & Marketing and key UNB stakeholders to create and implement web strategy, roadmap and budget that aligns with and supports the University and SCM specific objectives.
  • Collaborate with the digital content manager and other SCM leaders to strategically align digital initiatives with the UNB vision and brand.
  • Provide a superior web experience for audiences based on technology trends, audience needs and university objectives.
  • Partner with SCM colleagues and university stakeholders to understand business objectives and audience needs, goals, motivations, and behaviors.
  • Lead the strategic vision and management of UNB's external facing website.
  • Stay abreast of the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem and provide training and thought leadership to the team.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the web team and create action plans for training and development of team.
  • Lead the external facing website update project and ongoing refinements and upgrades.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies and service providers in partnership with ITS to develop web designs and technical solutions.
  • Lead the development of SEO for UNB.ca and SEM for Institutional and SCM led marketing initiatives/campaigns.
  • Identify trends and metrics, and optimize budget spend and performance based on the insights.
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of audience journeys through UNB.ca and user needs to align content strategy with strategic objectives.
  • Lead projects involving the assessment, selection, and deployment of new website related technologies.
  • Measure and report performance of UNB.ca and other digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals.
  • Provide web consultation and leadership to areas across the university, helping to develop customized marketing initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance, training, and support to the UNB community on web trends, standards and best practices.
  • Develop a Web working group within the university to foster relationships and cultivate and share ideas.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Web Design, Digital/Internet Marketing or a related field.
  • 7 years related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, and experience, including managerial experience and training may be acceptable.

Additional Strengths

  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise websites.
  • Experience leading content management system and governance projects, using standard practices in budgeting, stakeholder consultation, change management, and project management.
  • Extensive experience with web content management systems, including user and role definition, workflow, layouts or themes, and administration.
  • Proven experience in website design, architecture development, Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Google Webmaster Tools, SEO, digital advertising and the effective planning of campaigns and tools in a business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-departmental project teams who represent a diversity of interests and styles.
  • Proven experience developing and executing measurable institutional web strategies and campaigns.
  • Work experience in higher education, government or non-profit sector would be an asset.
  • Ability to lead, coach and direct staff in continuous improvement of UNB's web environment.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and find effective solutions to problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a broad spectrum of university stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative team.
  • Ability to develop a community of web practices from both a business and content strategy perspective.
  • Knowledge of web usability design and information architecture principles.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills for different types of media with an eye for detail, design, content and brand.
