Corporate Accounting & Treasury Analyst

Fortis Inc. (FTS/NYSE: FTS) has an exciting opportunity to join its team in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador as a Corporate Accounting & Treasury Analyst.

We are inviting applications from individuals who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the successful candidate will be an integral member of the Finance team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily treasury activities, including the processing of payments in online banking platforms;
  • Oversee banking permissions, approvals, and compliance with the company's authorization policy;
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for various companies;
  • Work closely with the accounts payable function to ensure timely, accurate payments to key stakeholders;
  • Complete account reconciliations on a regular cadence to ensure accurate financial records;
  • Conduct key aspects of monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes;
  • Act as process owner for certain financial reporting, accounts payable and expense report applications;
  • Provide administrative support for financial reporting processes and deliverables and file documents with securities administrators;
  • Prepare financial analysis and project work; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and with a team;
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office; and
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Commerce or Business Management, with a concentration in Accounting;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of practical work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
