Job Summary
The Primary Health Care Program is seeking a Physiotherapist to fulfill a leadership role for its Downtown Vulnerable population's clinic/outreach team. The mission is to provide patient-centered, evidence-based, compassionate, comprehensive, sustainable healthcare with excellence in quality, service, and access. The successful incumbent will work closely with other team members to deliver healthcare services to the vulnerable population in a variety of settings, such as in primary healthcare clinics, community organizations, homes, shelters, mobile clinics, or during outreach.

The Physiotherapist II in the primary health care setting will work with clients, caregivers and other team members to identify, achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. Physiotherapy care will be provided to diverse and vulnerable populations. Care will be provided face to face and virtually as necessary and appropriate. Clients in primary health care settings have a range of clinical presentations including acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries/disorders, undiagnosed musculoskeletal conditions, Mental health and substance use issues, frailty, falls, and chronic disease management and prevention. The incumbent will screen and triage physiotherapy referrals; provide exercise prescription and education and assist clients with health care system navigation. The incumbent may play a lead role in building community capacity and the development of primary health care initiatives

Clinical supervision will be provided to Physiotherapist I's, and Physiotherapy Support personnel. The PT II will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within Eastern Health. It is expected that the PT II will collaborate on evidence informed program planning: development, implementation, evaluation and quality improvement of services. The incumbent must have well developed communication skills to enable program and interprofessional collaboration and cooperation. Well-developed conflict resolution skills are required to resolve staff and client issues as they arise. Multi-site coverage and outreaching to the community will be required.

The successful incumbent will report to the Primary Health Care Program Manager and will maintain accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Physiotherapy for integrity and professional practice issues.

Occasionally, there is heavy lifting or physical strength required, over 50 lbs.
Regularly sits, occasionally works in awkward/cramped positions, and stands to facilitate or teach groups.
Fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Auditory concentration is required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly. A higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of Physiotherapy is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years' experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with complex adult populations is required.
Successful completion of a post entry education course in Orthopedic Level I (or equivalent as determined by Eastern Health) is required.

Experience working with clients with mental health and addictions issues is considered an asset.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
