Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Construction Site Supervisor. In this role, you will plan and oversee the day-to-day activities of the building development project, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. The supervisor will be responsible for managing the construction process from qualifying and selecting subcontractors to coordinating and leading the site work. You will be responsible for leading the installation team of 3-4 workers. You will also be tasked with maintaining project timelines, managing resources, and ensuring tasks are completed on time while meeting KREA's quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple teams, and contractors.

Role/Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the construction project from site preparation to the completion of homes, ensuring projects are built within budget, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Manage a team of construction workers, including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and subcontractors, ensuring each tradesman meets project requirements and timelines.
  • Recruit, direct, and manage subcontractors and tradesmen to ensure project milestones are met and quality standards are upheld.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, installation manuals, instructions, and production orders to guide the team and subcontractors in the correct execution of construction tasks.
  • Ensure installation is conducted in accordance with engineering drawings, while complying with HRM regulations.
  • Conduct pre-walkthroughs with finish contractors to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to provide cost estimates for sitework related to client quotes, ensuring all work is aligned with project goals and budgets.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in site supervision, construction management, and/or residential development.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the residential construction industry preferably in HRM area, with a focus on modular or prefabricated homes being a significant asset.
  • Expertise in sub-trade management and strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and manage diverse teams of workers and contractors.
  • General contracting experience and previous framing experience preferred. AutoCAD experience is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with sub-contractors, internal teams, and other stakeholders.

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in construction, project management, carpentry, engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • A college or university diploma in a construction-related field is an asset but not mandatory.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience in the residential construction industry preferably in HRM region.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience leading and managing employees, trades, and subcontractors.
  • In-depth knowledge of residential construction practices, building codes, and industry standards.
  • Experience in the manufactured or prefab housing industry is a definite advantage.

Salary:

$26 - $35 / hour, based on qualifications and experience.
