Connors Transfer Ltd. is a leading transportation company dedicated to providing efficient, reliable, and safe transportation solutions to our clients. We are looking for a Transportation Safety & Compliance Manager in the Woodstock, NB office to oversee the safety and regulatory aspects of our transportation operations. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Position Summary:
The Transportation Safety & Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our fleet operations meet all regulatory requirements and safety standards. This role involves developing and maintaining safety programs, monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and managing safety audits and training for drivers and other personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation safety and compliance, with a focus on risk management and regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all transportation safety regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), and OSHA.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs for drivers, fleet, and transportation operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments of vehicles, drivers, and equipment to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor driver performance and ensure proper training, certification, and documentation for all drivers, including hours-of-service compliance and driver qualification files.
  • Oversee incident investigations and report on accidents, near misses, and safety violations, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports related to safety, compliance, and inspections, including DOT logs, maintenance records, and training documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations and HR teams to ensure safety training programs are effectively delivered and up to date with the latest regulations.
  • Ensure fleet maintenance programs are in place to keep vehicles in compliance with safety and inspection standards.
  • Monitor changes in local, state, and federal regulations affecting transportation and ensure the company remains in full compliance.
  • Conduct or arrange for regular safety meetings and training sessions for drivers and other employees involved in transportation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, including during audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Must be willing and able to travel

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Occupational Safety, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation safety, fleet management, or regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations related to transportation safety and compliance.
  • Experience in conducting safety audits, training, and incident investigations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate employees to prioritize safety and compliance.
  • Familiarity with transportation safety software and compliance management tools.
  • Certification in safety management or transportation-related fields (e.g., Certified Director of Safety, Certified Safety Professional) is a plus.
