About the Windsor Elms Village (Falmouth, NS): Windsor Elms Village is an Eden Registered Home with a residentdirected
philosophy of care. It builds on a rich history and reflects our commitment to continue to evolve to meet the
emerging needs of seniors in Nova Scotia. We will continue to embrace life, provide compassionate support and
encourage meaningful relationships with residents, families, staff and the community. We are creating a home
environment, which is eco-friendly and lowering our carbon footprint, where residents can continue to grow and
experience the fullness of life.


Creating a Sense of Home: We are home to 108 residents. At Windsor Elms Village there are three distinct
neighbourhoods. Each neighbourhood has four houses of nine residents. With such a diverse group of residents, you
will find each house has its own character. At WEV, we strive to create flexibility that mirrors life in the communities
and homes our residents have known.


Physiotherapist:
We are seeking a full time Physiotherapist to work in our home located in Falmouth, NS
As our Physiotherapist, you will be assessing and treating residents who are referred to PT for care and establishing a
treatment program and/or recommendations. Key functions of the role include the following:
• Maintaining communication with the care team, attending physician and other health disciplines.
• Educating residents and their families and the care team with regards to the condition and the PT intervention.
• Perform clinical assessments, set goals and provide treatment plans for Residents.
• Initiate appropriate treatment intervention based on clinical assessment.
• Provide on-going evaluation of resident progress. Administer and collect outcome measurement information.
• Participate in orientating new care partners and students and be a mentor/preceptor for therapy students.
• Deliver interventions for individual residents , or groups of residents, in areas of physical or functional skills
such as carrying our mobility and strengthening exercises.
• Exercises sound judgement in the delivery of prescribed treatments to the residents
• Request and accommodate resident's individual choices whenever possible .
• Encourage and support residents to maintain or regain their independence
• Provide explanations to residents. Negotiate with residents when requests cannot be met.
• Support relationships that are central to the residents.
• Work to create a culture of safety for all.


As a Physiotherapist within our team, you are committed to alleviating the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness,

collaboratively and respectfully with all care partners including residents, co-workers, families, physicians, community

enhance and strengthen the groups and individuals who live and work at the Windsor Elms Village.
As an important member of our team -- working with all care partners - you do what it takes to enrich relationships
and well-being for residents.


Qualifications:
• Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent from a recognized school of Physiotherapy.
• Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
• Ability to communicate well with Residents , their families and care partners.
• Preferred experience with geriatrics as well as working with physically and/cognitively impaired residents
• Preferred Alzheimer's Course & PIECES Training considered an asset
• Current First Aid & CPR Certification
• Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
