Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Issues Management team in Global Compliance and AML ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Support the development and maintenance of issues management dashboards and supports high-impact presentations for Senior-level Executive audiences which influence action on strategic recommendations.

  • Supports and helps users with inquiries on the Issues Management System functionality.

  • Collaborates with IT&S developers on technical system enhancements, including the delivery of the prioritized items.

  • Supports with oversight responsibilities, by conducting ongoing reviews of information to monitor the quality of Issues Management data and inform stakeholders on metrics performance and insights – as required.

  • Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations of complex data sets to inform strategic recommendations for the group as well as regulatory and enterprise-wide requirements/goals.

  • Assists with the design and preparation of reports to support Issues Management reporting activities.

  • Work collaboratively with teams both within and outside Global Compliance and AML on issues management and other strategic initiatives, as required.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education/Experience

  • 2+ years of banking/financial services experience

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Mathematics is desirable

  • Excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate, very comfortable with quantitative & financial analysis

  • Strong user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to organize and manipulate data

  • Able to visualize information and summarize in a clear and concise manner and adapt communication to Senior management

  • Attention to detail and top performer that thrives in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment

  • Able to manage multiple activities to aggressive deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in PowerBI and/or Advanced SharePoint Site Management skill are an asset

  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
