Halifax Water is inviting applicants for one (1) Regular Full-time Building Process Maintainer for our Halifax Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Operations Department. The Building Process Maintainer performs all forms of general labour work associated with the operation of the wastewater treatment facilities.
- Carry out janitorial duties in and around water supply plant buildings. This shall include, but not be limited to, cleaning of floors, washrooms, offices, windows. The Plant Supervisor will establish a schedule of cleaning duties that will be completed at a prescribed frequency, which may be modified to accommodate events at the plant.
- Carry out upkeep of roads, grounds, walkways and buildings, and performs other assigned duties. Typical duties include snow removal and ice control, lawn mowing, planting, raking, weeding etc.
- When assigned by the Plant Supervisor, load and unload deliveries, including treatment chemicals. Carry out other miscellaneous tasks as required, such as pick up and deliveries, escorting contractors.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment associated with water supply plant facilities.Perform general labour duties such as moving materials, rigging, clean-up and assist Operators with maintenance duties.
- Perform duties as prescribed for the position as defined in the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
- Grade 12, (or equivalent)
- One (1) year related experience in municipal maintenance operations.
- The successful incumbent must also have a valid NS Class 5 drivers' licence in good standing.
