Corporate Strategy and Communications Advisor, St. John's
On behalf of our client - Crosbie, Higher Talent is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Corporate Strategy and Communications Advisor. This is a permanent full-time position located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Position Overview
The Corporate Strategy and Communications Advisor (Advisor) will serve as a critical partner to the senior leadership team in a medium-sized business, acting as a steward of accountability, strategy execution, and corporate communications. This role is ideal for a dynamic and strategic professional who seeks to work closely with management and executives to influence outcomes, build alignment, and drive the successful execution of organizational goals without being in an executive role. The Advisor will support leadership in fostering accountability, ensuring the effective execution of strategic initiatives, and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Stewarding Accountability and Strategic Execution
- To help the management team ensure the organizational strategy is executed as effectively as possible, track, follow-through and report on the progress of key decisions and commitments
- Steward the execution of the organization's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and timelines and organizing periodic strategic sessions to refine goals and priorities
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor progress on strategic initiatives and provide regular updates to leadership
- Partner with department leaders to identify roadblocks, propose solutions, and support alignment across functions for successful strategic plan implementation
- Assist in organizing and documenting senior leadership and management team meetings, ensuring clear action items are defined and monitored
- Conduct market and competitive analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Assist with the development of execution plans for strategic objectives and help ensure their prioritization and resourcing
Corporate Communications
- Develop and implement corporate communication strategies to enhance the company's internal and external reputation
- Act as the central point for internal communications, creating materials such as newsletters, intranet updates, and announcements to keep employees informed and aligned with company priorities
- Craft high-quality executive communication materials, including speeches, presentations, and reports for public and internal engagements
- Manage the content and development of corporate websites, subsidiary sites and online profiles to ensure relevance and dynamism
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and steward an employee communication strategy using appropriate tactics and channels
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers, government agencies, industry bodies, and community partners
- Represent the organization at industry forums, community events, and other engagements to strengthen its presence and stakeholder alignment
- Act as a liaison between senior leadership and broader staff to ensure clear communication and prioritization
- As part of fulfilling the company's corporate social responsibility agenda, oversee or support initiatives that strengthen community ties and the company's reputation
Facilitating Leadership Team Effectiveness
- Foster collaboration across the management team by coordinating cross-functional discussions and workshops
- Assist the executive team in maintaining clear goals, priorities, and performance standards across departments
- Provide impartial guidance and feedback to leaders to ensure accountability and adherence to agreed-upon plans
- Support the leadership team in achieving a high-performance culture characterized by transparency, integrity, and results
- Reputation and Crisis Management
- Monitor external trends, media coverage, and stakeholder sentiment to proactively identify risks and opportunities effecting the organization's reputation
- Serve as a key contributor to the organization's crisis communication plan, ensuring alignment and preparedness in managing sensitive issues
- Advise leadership on public relations and corporate positioning strategies
Strategic and Business Insights
- Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and regulatory developments to provide actionable insights for leadership
- Support business planning by contributing to the development of strategies, operational plans, and performance improvement initiatives
- Work closely with leadership to refine and articulate the company's vision, mission, and strategic priorities
- Education & Experience
- Required: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- Preferred: MBA or equivalent graduate-level degree
- 10+ years of professional experience, ideally in communications, corporate affairs, strategy, or consulting roles
- Experience working closely with senior leadership or management teams with a track-record of high accountability and strategic execution

- Strong strategic thinking and analytical abilities, with the capability to distill complex concepts into actionable insights
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for executive-level materials and discussions
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including executives and external partners.
- High level of organization and detail orientation with experience managing complex and cross-functional projects
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence others without direct authority.
- Proficiency in productivity tools like Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Comfort working with financial data is a plus
