The Role:
We are hiring an Accounting Analyst to join our IT team for a 2-year term, and the incumbent will collaborate extensively with the Accounting team. You will be supporting a Cooke project by ensuring that accounting requirements are defined and met when determining and implementing a procurement system solution. This role will be based in Saint John, NB.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Collaborate with cross functional team on analysis of accounting system information and assist with potential procurement system solution implementation
- Assist with process flow mapping and documentation of processes.
- Identifying areas for improvement to address accounting requirements and helping to implement required changes.
- Facilitate working sessions with the accounting team to understand, document and validate requirements.
- Understand and communicate gaps between accounting requirements and project scope to drive resolution.
- Support system testing phases and ensuring that any issues are identified, communicated, and resolved.
- Participate in go-live activities to support a successful implementation.
- Complete ad-hoc reporting & analysis as required.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Two to five (2-5) years' experience with finance or accounting systems
- Experience with full-cycle accounting
- Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite
- Prior experience using database tools and spreadsheet software such as MySQL and Excel
- Experience using data visualization tools, such as Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau
- Strong process improvement mindset.
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Be comfortable using General Leger software, experience with Great Plains considered an asset.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) is considered an asset qualification
